She Means Business

Peer Learning Circle for Afghan women entrepreneurs

She Means Business was created precisely to offer Afghan women entrepreneurs a protected environment and practical tools to share their experiences, discuss challenges, and identify together concrete, quickly actionable solutions.
The businesswomen participating in this project were selected among the candidates of the Women Business Prize, organised by NOVE in Kabul in 2025. They come from different work sectors and backgrounds, united by a common commitment to learning together, sharing successful practices, and strengthening their capacity to make informed decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
Each participant brings real challenges from her own business to the Circle: price volatility, unstable income, barriers to negotiating with male suppliers and clients, the need to balance work with family responsibilities, the need to build an informal support network, or the difficulties of accessing credit within a Sharia-compliant financial system. These themes, emerging directly from their lived experiences, become the starting point for collective problem-solving aimed at identifying practical and achievable solutions.
The project consists of regular online meetings. Women facilitators guide the group using a simple and accessible approach, encouraging conversations that help participants view their challenges from new perspectives and identify small, practical actions they can implement. The sessions thus become opportunities for exchange in which each woman can better define her own skills, discover new strategies, and feel part of a community grounded in mutual understanding and peer support.
The value of this shared journey lies not only in the solutions identified, but also in the act of sharing with peers, an opportunity that women rarely have. Every exchange becomes a piece of collective knowledge that strengthens the group and opens up new perspectives.
She Means Business represents a different approach to training: not top-down or theoretical, but co-created with the women who face the daily challenges of entrepreneurship in Afghanistan. It is a program that restores dignity, agency, and practical tools, helping participants feel less isolated and more capable of navigating uncertainty.
