Seeds of Rebirth
A future for Afghan families in the eastern provinces.
The project represents a beacon of hope for Afghan families struggling to survive in the provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, and Laghman, which have been severely affected by the food crisis. In a context marked by hardship and uncertainty, it offers a path toward food security and self-sufficiency, aiming to concretely improve the lives of more than 6,800 vulnerable people, particularly women.
Seeds of Rebirth seeks to support and strengthen local communities by providing the means for self-sustenance. Through the promotion of small-scale livestock farming, the creation of agri-food microenterprises, and targeted training programs, hundreds of families in the eastern provinces will be able to achieve food security and lay the foundations for a more stable future.
Small-scale livestock farming. The first component of the project focuses on raising cows and goats, valuable sources of nourishment and income. The free distribution of hundreds of livestock (breeds selected based on productivity and climate adaptability), combined with training in health management practices and breeding techniques, will equip the participants with the skills needed to start sustainable family farming activities. This represents a significant step toward improving nutrition and basic income for more than 4,700 women and their families.
Income generation in the agri-food sector. The second component of Seeds of Rebirth focuses on income-generating activities in the agri-food sector. Through the free distribution of equipment and specialized training in food processing and preservation techniques (such as drying, canning, and fermentation), the project fosters the development of small family businesses, creating a link with the market and providing a concrete income opportunity for 2,100 people.
The project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
