“ABC of Citizenship 2025”: building an inclusive and intercultural society together

Immigration is not an emergency, but a structural phenomenon that characterizes contemporary societies. From this awareness comes ABC della Cittadinanza 2025, the new project promoted by CSV Lazio in collaboration with organizations engaged for years in the promotion of rights and intercultural dialogue: Piùculture, Assopace Palestina, Centro Culturale Islamico, and NOVE Caring Humans.

The project takes place in the metropolitan area of Rome and in the province of Frosinone to promote coexistence, inclusion, and mutual understanding in areas where the presence of foreign citizens has now become an integral part of the social fabric.

The main objective is to counter stereotypes and discrimination, spreading a culture of peace and respect for human rights. Special attention is dedicated to younger generations: schools represent the privileged place to learn to live with diversity and become aware citizens. At the same time, teachers and families, citizens of all ages, university students, and researchers are also involved.

The project is structured around five main areas:

• intercultural workshops in schools, involving over 700 students, 40 teachers, and 350 families;

• monthly public events in the areas of Rome and Frosinone, including conferences, screenings, and debates;

• digital awareness campaigns, through newsletters, websites, and social networks, reaching an estimated audience of at least 3,800 young people;

• intercultural mediation and dialogue activities;

• initiatives promoting peace education and respect for rights.

Within the project, NOVE contributes its expertise in international cooperation and social inclusion, framing the activities within a global and multicultural perspective. In fact, it will play a leading role in intercultural workshops in schools, in public meetings with journalists and international experts, and in digital campaigns addressed in particular to younger generations.

ABC della Cittadinanza 2025 also contributes to Goal 4.7 of the UN 2030 Agenda, which promotes inclusive and intercultural education. A strong network with a global perspective, where each partner contributes with specific knowledge and tools, amplifying the potential impact on the community. It is estimated that over 350,000 people will be reached within 12 months.
