Carla is a mother of four. All of her children are currently participating in the project Sport4Equality, except for Elena. She participated last year but this year won’t, since she came of age.

The males practice athletics, Elena, on the other hand, practices Judo.

Carla is a single parent and managing four children is very challenging for her, both physically and mentally. Her children suffer from dyslexia and have struggled to stay on track since the beginning of high school. Moises, her younger son, was even followed by a tutor.

Carla never had the opportunity to practice any sport because in her country you have “to be wealthy” to do it at a competitive level. Nevertheless, she did not allow her children to give up sports activities.

School is very important, but two days a week must be dedicated to sports to vent and relieve stress. Moreover, sport helps to improve self-esteem. Sometimes it is more difficult, you have to get organized, eat quickly and you have less time for other things. However, I am aware of how much sport is helping them psychologically and physically.

Carla explains how the project is having a strong positive impact on the development of her children. Moises, the youngest one, suffers from an inferiority complex when comparing himself to his peers - says Carla - Sport is helping him vent and relieve stress. He also found supportive friends he feels comfortable with. As for Josue, her other son, she noticed how practising sports changed him as a person He realized he is good at something and this gave him the chance to lower his defences.

Carla also actively participates in workshops against cyberbullying which are specifically addressed to parents. cyberbullying.

I’m approaching the problem for the first time and I think it is very useful other than interesting. I had the chance to discuss practically topics and problems I experienced first-hand with my children. This made me realize that I am part of a community where I can find support.
