COVID-19 Emergency in Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Kabul. 2020.

Beneficiaries: over 4,500 people (677 families below the poverty line).

During the lockdown in Afghanistan, those earning a living through day jobs could no longer provide for themselves and their families. This resulted in starvation among many adults and children.

NOVE assisted over 4,500 people from 677 families living below the poverty line, including widows and disabled people. Hygiene kits and parcels containing 85 kilos of food or, alternatively, 'emergency vouchers' worth USD 95 were distributed to each family.

As part of these activities, a doctor recruited by NOVE taught all beneficiaries hygiene rules for preventing the spread of COVID-19..

PARTNERS: Department of Women’s Affairs (DoWA) of Kabul, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

DONORS: The Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Kabul, LG Investimenti Spa..
