Give an Italian a hand

Italy, Rome. 2016-2018. Beneficiaries: 15.

This project lent a hand to Italians living in poverty, among them the 'new poor'. These are people and families affected by unemployment or the loss of purchasing power of their salaries and pensions and who were trying to stay afloat without losing their dignity.

The project provided both assistance and support to overcome critical situations or get out of an emergency. It also contributed to social inclusion and achieving
economic autonomy. After assessing the actual needs of the people who applied for help, NOVE selected priority
cases based on the principle of greatest vulnerability and urgency. It then came up with an ad hoc support plan for each case. This meant, for example, providing help to renovate dilapidated housing, paying
utilities and rent, providing a vehicle for employment or enrolling persons in employment-related courses.
